Non-profit & Social Impact
Amplify your mission with strategic communications that drive real change
Non-profit organisations and social enterprises do essential work that deserves greater visibility. We help mission-driven organisations amplify their impact through media relations, advocacy campaigns, and donor communications.
A deep commitment that runs through the agency's culture
Third Hemisphere has a deep commitment to social impact that runs through the agency's leadership and culture. Our Executive Chair Jeremy Liddle has spoken at the United Nations General Assembly and the G20 Summit, served as President of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance, and works as an Investment and Networking Expert for UNIDO. Our senior team includes award-winning climate media specialists who have dedicated much of their careers to environmental advocacy and social impact storytelling.
International development, policy advocacy, and community engagement
Our non-profit and social impact work spans international development, policy advocacy, community engagement, and social enterprise communications. For the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), we supported innovation program communications across 12 countries. For the International Labour Organization (ILO), we helped communicate workforce development initiatives across the South Pacific. For the B20 and G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance, we positioned small business and entrepreneurship policy on the global stage.
Media-driven social impact, beyond advocacy alone
We have also supported media-driven social impact initiatives including The Fathering Project's TV and podcast series, which addressed father engagement during COVID-19, and the Changing Ocean Asia podcast series, which communicated complex ocean science to diverse Asia-Pacific audiences. Non-profit communications demand a different approach from commercial PR: the emphasis is on mission amplification, policy influence, donor engagement, and community mobilisation rather than sales and revenue growth.
Industry challenges
- Competing for Attention with Limited Budgets Non-profit organisations often have important messages but limited communications budgets. Strategies must be efficient, impactful, and designed to maximise earned media and organic reach.
- Translating Impact into Compelling Narratives Many non-profits struggle to communicate their impact in ways that resonate beyond their existing supporters. Data and stories need to be woven into narratives that move new audiences to action.
- Influencing Policy and Government Decision-Making Non-profits seeking to influence policy need strategic advocacy communications that reach the right policymakers, build coalition support, and generate public pressure through media coverage.
- Donor and Volunteer Engagement Maintaining relationships with donors, volunteers, government funders, and community partners requires consistent, transparent communications that demonstrate impact and accountability.
