The NSW Health Commercialisation Training Program is celebrating its 10th anniversary, reflecting a decade of empowering healthcare innovation in New South Wales. Since its launch, the program has supported 3,400 participants, facilitated the creation of 40 new companies, launched 64 health tech products, and initiated 31 clinical trials. Participants have also raised $134.8 million in total and benefited from the mentorship of over 300 experts.
This initiative, funded by NSW Health through the Office for Health and Medical Research (OHMR) and delivered by Cicada Innovations, has played a pivotal role in positioning New South Wales as a leader in global health innovation.
At the anniversary showcase, NSW Minister for Medical Research, David Harris, emphasised how the program accelerates the commercialisation of medical technologies in healthcare, improving patient outcomes. Cicada Innovations’ CEO, Sally-Ann Williams, highlighted the broader impact on Australia’s economic resilience by fostering health tech innovation. Two successful alumni, Tetratherix and SDIP Innovations, were spotlighted for their breakthroughs in vaccine wastage solutions and bone regeneration technologies.
